Data Scientist (Image Processing Expertise; 10+ Years Experience) - Part Time / Freelance Work

Role Overview:CrowdPlat is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our team for the image processing project. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing machine learning models to enhance the resolution of lunar digital terrain models (DTMs). You will work closely with a diverse team of experts, including subject matter experts in planetary remote sensing, to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet clients stringent requirements.Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Algorithm Development: Develop and refine machine learning models, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), to upscale and enhance lunar DTMs.
• Model Training and Validation: Train ML models using GPU clusters, continuously monitoring performance metrics such as Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM).
• Integration: Ensure seamless integration of enhanced DTMs with existing NASA lunar datasets, including registration to the Moon LRO Global Lunar DTM 100 (GLD100).
• Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including remote sensing experts and software developers, to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
• Documentation: Provide comprehensive documentation of data preprocessing steps, machine learning model architectures, training processes, and validation results.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Educational Background: Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Technical Expertise:
• Strong proficiency in Python and TensorFlow for developing and training ML models.
• Experience with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for image processing and super-resolution tasks.
• Proficient in using C++ for high-performance data processing tasks, particularly in stereophotogrammetry and image registration.
• Experience with Ames Stereo Pipeline (ASP) or similar tools for generating 3D terrain models from planetary imagery.
  
  

Experience:

• 
  Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, with a focus on machine learning and image processing.
• Proven track record in handling large-scale datasets and developing ML models for high-resolution mapping or similar applications.
