About the job
As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the server-side logic of our e-commerce platforms. You will work closely with our frontend developers and other team members to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.


Hourly Rate: The equivalent of US$ 6.5 per hour in the applicant’s local currency
Number of Paid Hours Per Week: 40h per week
Schedule: To be followed once hired (40 hours per week)
Client Time: Hollywood, FL.
Work Arrangement: Work from home
Contract: Independent Contractor
Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.



Responsibilities




Develop and maintain server-side logic, databases, and APIs.
Set up and manage server environments to ensure high availability and scalability.
Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Collaborate with project teams to integrate various tools using APIs and Webhooks.
Optimize application performance and ensure fast response times.
Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues and bugs.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in backend development.



Requirements




3-4 years of proven experience as a back-end developer or in a similar role.
Strong proficiency in server setup and management.
Experience with API development and integration using REST and GraphQL.
Proficiency in Node.js backend programming language.
Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.



Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) in the last 3 years
Experience with server-side tagging
Experience with Shopify QL
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with microservices architecture
Understanding of security best practices in backend development
